“The sages avoided the winds like avoiding arrows and stones”

The Ling Shu

Within the vision of Oriental medicine, Wind, is the spearhead that carries into the body the “six excesses” – the Xie Qi of damp, fire, dryness, cold, summer heat and wind itself.

Wind symptoms often come on suddenly and move around the body. As it blows through us, we can experience colds, flu, chills, fevers, blocked or runny nose, foggy head, sore throat, tremors, muscle spasm and cramps, headaches, joint pain, neck/shoulder tension, itching, stiffness, fatigue, hives, rashes, vertigo, dizziness.

Within the Oriental model of medicine, Wind is also implicated in neurological conditions – strokes, epilepsy, parkinsons etc.
